Welcome to Ashbury with Compton Beauchamp CE(A) Primary School website

We are a Voluntary Aided Primary school for 4-11 year olds in Oxfordshire Local Authority. We now have a Partnership Foundation Stage Unit with Ashbury Pre-School. They cater for children from 2 1/2 to 4 years old.

Education in Ashbury probably took many early forms, but of significance both locally and nationally, is the initiative started in 1777, For it was at this time that the Rev. Thomas Stock set up the first school in England in premises outside the church for that purpose. One year later Rev Stock was invited by Robert Raikes to help in the set up of the Sunday School Movement. The school is justly proud of its church aided status and its close links with the parish church.
